Get down drill

Artificially make your defenders late, practice quickness of recovery.

Instructions

  • Five on five, players play w/o attempting to score until coach blows the whistle.
  • At the whistle, off the ball defenders touch the floor with their chest and get up to recover.
  • Offensive players must have found a shot in the meantime.

Variations

Offense pays without dribbles.

Tips

Emphasize on defending with the legs, as foot speed is the key when coming up late to guard your man.
