Laker Drill

Line players up in three lines on the baseline. Space them out so that there\‘s a line in the middle and on both three point lines. While running forward, the player in the middle passes the ball to the left. The recipient then passes the ball back. By this time you are near half court and the player left should be around the elbow. The middle player passes to the player left and this person goes in for the right-handed lay-up. Then the middle man rebounds and the drill begins again by bringing the ball back and ending with a lay-up on the right side.

Variations

You can also start off by passing to the right first so that the lay-up will be on the left hand side instead of the right. Teaches left-hand lay-ups. You can also make a goal. Such as make 30 lay-ups in 5 min.

Tips

  • Good for learning passing, fastbreaks, and lay-ups. Teaches control over the ball.
  • Tell players to make swift passes and they SHOULD be able to make lay-ups while they are unguarded. If you are setting a goal and the drill is done lazily then making the team run can help.

Ball control, passing, lay-up shooting.
