Prison Break-Out

While dribbling, inmates must tag the prisoner to free him/her while prison guards are protecting the jail and also trying to tag inmates to send them to jail.

Instructions

Choose one player to be the prisoner. 3 or 4 players to be prison guards and 4, 5 or more to be inmates. The player that is the prisoner is confined within an 8 foot diameter of orange practice cones, that’s the jail. Outside the cones are the prison guards, guarding the prisoner but also looking to tag one of the roving inmates to put him/her in jail. Inmates must tag prisoner to free him/her.

EVERYONE MUST DRIBBLE THROUGHOUT THIS FUN DRILL.

My 8 and 9 year olds love this game.

Variations

It’s better when there are slightly more inmates than guards. Use half the court just to confine everyone.

Tips

Generally I start with more inmates than guards. If guards are good that number will change. I’ll restart the game and change positions now and then when odds aren’t favorable.

Skills

Dribbling, speed dribbling, heads up dribbling.

Players

8 or more
