Red Rover Dribble

A running game involving dribbling best for little kids who are just gaining control over the ball.

Instructions

All the players except one who is “it” line up on the baseline with balls. The person who is it stands anywhere between the baseline and the halfcourt line with a ball.

The person who is it calls out “red rover red rover, I call over Name”, and then that person has to try and get over the halfway line without being tagged by the person who is it. Both people have to keep dribbling.

When the person reaches the line or is tagged, all the other players can try and run across too. If the person who is it wants to, they can call out “bull rush” and then everyone has to run straight away. Anybody tagged joins the person in the middle and tries to catch the others.

Variations

Any player that is tagged has to sit down where they are and try and reach other players as they run past, without moving from their position.

Tips

If you choose to, you can make it so that if a player looses control of the ball then they are it, or if the person who is it looses control of the ball then everyone gets across for free.

Skills

Dribbling, agility, endurance.

Players

At least 3, best with about 6 or 7
