Rock, Rim, Release

Help kids creat a 15/17 ft jumper , while also teaching running through the basketball. Great drill to start practice and end practice.

Instructions

1 basket is needed, 1 stop watch (drill is best done at about 45 seconds). Start 17 ft out, this will creat a 15 ft jumper. Player 1 holds ball outside of body , waist high, Player 2 (shooter) starts back about 2 steps and runs through the ball, catching the ball but taking his/her body through the ball. Player 2 then back pedals back while player 1 has another ball on the “P” Player 3 just rebounds misses and throws it back to Player 1. Can be done at any spot.

Variations

15/17/19/22 ft. Must remember to get the distance of the shot the player must start back further , because the player will run through the ball. You can use all the spots on the floor. Keep count of makes and misses. Great for competition shooting

Tips

1. Make sure players run through the ball
2. Make sure player back pedals back really hard, find spot and run back through the ball.
3. Make sure rebounder is working hard
4. Make sure “P” is extended out and giving shooter positive statements. “you got this”
5. Run through the ball, finish at the rim.
