Nice way to correct your form.

1. If this is your first time doing this drill, begin by standing with your head directly under the rim.
2. Next, take a basketball, and find the air hole.
3.Hold it out in front of you with one hand.
4. Flip it over, and put it in shot pocket (use one hand).
5. Make sure you release it vertically upwards or the ball will hit the rim.
6. Follow-through. If you don\‘t, the ball will hit the rim. The follow-through carries the ball through the hoop.
7. Perform this excersise for10 minutes every day for 30 days.
8. When you have done this for fifteen day, move one giant step back. Same routine. Make sure you arm is still going exactly vertical. It makes your shot incredibly difficult to block.

Skills

Shooting posture

Variations

Shoot free throws like this. Then add your second hand.

Tips

Bend your knees a lot. Make sure your body is balanced (feet shoulder width apart).

Make sure both feet are point to the basket, with the right foot lined up with the center of the rim. Your left foot is slightly farther back.

If you do this move you will be wide open for a jumper.

For right handers: Start on the left side of the 3 point line. With your right hand, take a few slow dribbles kinda towards the middle of the court (DON’T ENTER THE KEY). Dribble through yor leg under your left leg, and quickly bounce it back under your right leg. Explode to the top of the key, do a wide low cross and you will be wide open for a shot. Instead of crossing over at the end, you may want to shoot a fall-away jumper or pumpfake then shoot.

Competitive shooting workout.

Begin with one player from the corner three; shoot the ball, and bring it back to the three, pumpfake, and dribble in to about 15 feet and launch another; get the rebound and bring it back to the three; pumpfake and dribble in and make a layup. Do this from all five angles; the two corners, the two wings, and the top of the key. Threes count as three points, 15 footers count as two points, and layups count as one point. Then, shoot two freethrows. Time yourself- next get the second person to do the same. Whoever scores the highest and in the least time wins.

Skills

Shooting from all distances and speed shooting.

Players

2 or more

Variations

none

Tips

Always hold your follow-through for 2 seconds and get the rebound; if you shoot and go after it, the shot either ends up flat or long, because the force being carried forward as you go after it influences the flight of the ball.

The Viking throw is one I developed to build upperbody power & helped me get the ability to slam down a 12 & even 15 pound medicineball. Typically medicine-ball throws are regarded as plyometrics because they are great power builders, but most tosses I’ve seen or heard of aren’t truly plyometrics. They actually fit into a class of “max power output training”.

I’m going to show you how to make the throws plyometric and thereby much more effective.

The Viking throw is a simple granny toss motion, where you take the appropriate weight medicine-ball lowered between your legs and hurl it as fast and forceful as possible behind your head.

My reactive version consists of doing this: Flip the ball up into the air slightly higher than your head, catch it slightly higher than the navel but as soon as it hits your hands an immediate turn around of force needs to take place. This is the catch/react idea that makes this a power medicine ball method that will give you upperbody vertical boosting ability.

Do 1-2 sets of 10 reps!

Variations

Work with different weights of medicine balls. One set can be focused on speed with a light 3-6 lb. ball. The next set more for strength with a 10-15lb. ball.

A running game involving dribbling best for little kids who are just gaining control over the ball.

All the players except one who is “it” line up on the baseline with balls. The person who is it stands anywhere between the baseline and the halfcourt line with a ball.

The person who is it calls out “red rover red rover, I call over Name”, and then that person has to try and get over the halfway line without being tagged by the person who is it. Both people have to keep dribbling.

When the person reaches the line or is tagged, all the other players can try and run across too. If the person who is it wants to, they can call out “bull rush” and then everyone has to run straight away. Anybody tagged joins the person in the middle and tries to catch the others.

Skills

Dribbling, agility, endurance.

Players

At least 3, best with about 6 or 7

Variations

Any player that is tagged has to sit down where they are and try and reach other players as they run past, without moving from their position.

Tips

If you choose to, you can make it so that if a player looses control of the ball then they are it, or if the person who is it looses control of the ball then everyone gets across for free.
